Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
Founders Board Africa ("FBA", "we", "us") is a professional membership community for founders, entrepreneurs and business leaders across Africa. For the purposes of the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 ("NDPA"), FBA is the data controller of the personal information described in this policy.
You can reach us at any time at membership@foundersboardafrica.com or on +234 902 844 5056.
2. What we collect
When you apply for membership through our application page, we collect the information you give us directly:
- Identity and contact details — full name, email address, phone number and country of residence.
- Professional details — company or organisation, your role, and your business stage.
- Application details — your reason for joining the community.
- Campaign data — technical parameters (such as UTM tags) that tell us which campaign or advert brought you to the page.
- Consent record — the fact and time of your agreement to this policy.
3. How we use your information
- To review and process your membership application.
- To contact you about your application, your membership, or an enquiry you make.
- To measure the performance of our membership campaigns.
- To meet legal or regulatory obligations where required.
We do not use your information for automated decision-making, and we do not sell your personal information to anyone.
4. Our legal basis
We process your information on the basis of your consent, which you give when you tick the consent box and submit the application form, and on the basis of our legitimate interest in operating and growing the FBA community. You may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us; withdrawal does not affect processing already carried out.
5. Who we share it with
Your application is handled by the FBA membership team. We use a small number of trusted service providers to host and operate our application and member-management systems; they process your information only on our instructions and under confidentiality obligations. We may also disclose information where the law requires it. We never share your details with third parties for their own marketing.
6. Where your information is stored
Our application systems run on secure cloud infrastructure, which may be located outside Nigeria. Where your information is transferred across borders, we take steps to ensure it remains protected to the standard required by the NDPA.
7. How long we keep it
If you become a member, we keep your information for the life of your membership. If your application is unsuccessful or withdrawn, we keep it for no longer than 24 months so we can complete the review process and handle any follow-up, after which it is deleted. You may ask us to delete it sooner.
8. Your rights
Under the NDPA you have the right to:
- request a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- have inaccurate or incomplete information corrected;
- have your information deleted, or its use restricted, in the circumstances the law provides;
- object to processing based on our legitimate interests;
- withdraw your consent at any time; and
- lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).
To exercise any of these rights, email membership@foundersboardafrica.com. We will respond within the timeframes the law requires.
9. Cookies and analytics
Our application page uses Google Tag Manager to manage the measurement tools that tell us how visitors find and use the page — for example, page views and which campaign or advert referred you. Depending on the tags we activate, these tools may set cookies or similar technologies on your device to collect this information.
The application form on the page is provided and hosted by a trusted third-party service provider. When the form loads, your browser connects directly to that provider, and the provider may set cookies that are needed to display the form, keep it secure and prevent spam submissions.
We use these technologies to measure and improve our membership campaigns. We do not sell the information they collect, and we do not use it to build profiles of you for unrelated third parties.
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time. Blocking these cookies may limit how the page and the application form work, but you can always apply for membership by contacting us directly at membership@foundersboardafrica.com or on +234 902 844 5056.
10. Security
We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information against unauthorised access, loss or misuse, and we limit access to the people who need it to process your application.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be available at this address, with the "last updated" date shown above. If we make a significant change, we will take reasonable steps to bring it to your attention.
